Buffalo winters are hard on roofs in a way that people in other parts of the country do not fully understand. We average over 95 inches of snow a year. The lake-effect bands that come off Lake Erie hit the south end of the city hardest - South Buffalo, West Seneca, Hamburg, Orchard Park - but nobody in Erie County escapes the freeze-thaw cycles that run from November through April.
Here is what we repair most often:
Asphalt shingle roofs: cracked or missing shingles from wind, granule loss from repeated ice cycles, lifted edges where ice has worked underneath, and flashing separation around chimneys and vents.
Metal roofs: loose seams from thermal expansion and contraction, corrosion around fasteners, and panel damage from ice or falling debris.
Flat and low-slope roofs: membrane punctures, standing water damage from blocked drains, and edge flashing failures.
If your roof has been through a few Buffalo winters and something seems off, we will tell you straight whether it needs a repair or whether you are better off planning for a replacement. We do not push work that is not necessary.
